Room 8 Skypes with Marine Biologists!
5th graders had the “real world” in their classroom this week! After reading the Harcourt Storytown selection, “The Ultimate Field Trip: Wading into Marine Biology”, we connected with student marine biologist, Katlin Dougherty of Naples,Florida, and marine biologist, Eric Heupel, of Mystic,Conneticut. The 5th grade students prepared questions and enjoyed an informative 30 minute Skype session with Katlin and Eric on Wed. and Thurs. Katlin Skyped from the beach in Florida and showed the students organisms and plant life she discovered. Eric answered all their questions patiently. It was a wonderful learning experience for all!
